If Santa is good to you this year he will provide a little bit of discomfort in your life. Why discomfort you might ask? There are a couple of reasons. Let me explain.
First, discomfort is an indicator that we are growing or that we need to grow. We can’t get better or improve our circumstances in comfort. In fact we must step out of our comfort zone if we ever hope to do more, stretch ourselves, and become better. There is no growth in comfort. Discomfort stimulates our personal growth.
Second, discomfort will help us believe in ourselves. I’m convinced we are stronger than we think we are, and we can only learn that by taking on things that are uncomfortable. Though we may fight against discomfort, we can take a lot more of it than we realize. We are more resilient than we think, and being uncomfortable helps us learn this about ourselves.
Finally, the hardest things in life are normally those that bring about our greatest sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. Through the uncomfortable times we learn life’s most important lessons. If we are uncomfortable it normally means good things are to come.
Though I normally would wish for everyone to have a warm and comfortable Christmas, I’m not going to do it this year. This year I wish for something better for you. I wish for discomfort. ?
